Blessings be upon you!

As the winter temperature starts to change to warmer temperatures something beautiful happens in creation. Snow begins to melt, frozen ground softens, birds fill the air with songs, buds will soon appear on branches, and life slowly pushes its way back into view. What once looked barren begins to breathe again.

Spring quietly reminds us of something Scripture has declared for centuries and that is God is the God of renewal.

The prophet Jeremiah captured this truth in the middle of devastation. Jerusalem had fallen to the Babylonians (modern day Iraq), the nation was broken, and hope seemed distant. Yet in the midst of sorrow, he wrote inLamentations 3:22–23:

The LORD’S acts of mercy indeed do not end, For His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Think about that. Every morning God issues fresh mercy.

Not recycled mercy. Not leftover mercy. New mercy!

Just as the sun rises each day without fail, the compassion of God rises toward His people again and again. Yesterday’s failures do not cancel today’s grace. Spring itself preaches this message.

For months, the earth looks lifeless. Trees stand bare. The birds do not chirp with joy. Yet beneath the surface, life has been quietly preparing to return. When the season changes, what seemed dead begins to bloom again.

God works this way in our lives.

There are seasons when we feel spiritually cold, weary, or discouraged. Trials, mistakes, and disappointments can make it feel as if growth has stopped. But God is never finished with His people.

Scripture reminds us of 2 Corinthians 5:17:

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Through Christ, God does not merely improve our lives, He renews them.

Peter echoes this same truth when he writes in 1 Peter 1:3:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Our hope is living because the mercy that produced it is living. And that mercy continues to meet us every day.

When you wake tomorrow morning, before the responsibilities, before the noise of the day, remember this: God has already placed fresh mercy on your doorstep!

The sunrise is not just a change in light it is a reminder of God’s faithfulness. And just as spring ushers in new life across the earth, God continues to bring renewal to the hearts of His people.

So, if this season of life feels cold, take heart. The same God who awakens the earth each spring is at work in you. For He says in Psalms 23:3a,

He restores my soul…

God specializes in restoration. And tomorrow morning, when the sun rises again, His mercy will rise with it!
