Blessings be with you,
The latest snowstorm rolled in and its impact was immediate. Roads emptied. Schools closed. Meetings were canceled. Our normal pace of the hustle and bustle came to a sudden halt. For a brief moment, life slowed down whether we wanted it to or not.
Snow storms has a way of reminding us that we are not in control. No amount of planning can overpower a storm. When the flakes begin to fall, even the busiest cities are forced to pause. What we often resist such as rest, stillness, reflection is suddenly handed to us.
In many ways, God does the same thing in our lives.
There are moments when God, in His mercy, allows storms of circumstance to interrupt our momentum. Plans stall. Doors close. Progress feels delayed. And our first instinct is frustration. But often, these pauses are not punishments but are for our protection.
God knows when our pace is too fast, when our hearts are distracted, when our souls are running on empty. So He slows us down. He creates space for us to breathe, to reflect, to pray, and to realign our hearts with Him. Just as a snowstorm forces us off the roads, God sometimes pulls us off our paths so we don’t run ourselves into danger.
The stillness after a snowfall is striking. The world becomes quieter, cleaner, almost sacred. And in that quiet, if we’re listening, God speaks. He reminds us that life is more than productivity. That rest is holy. That trust grows in surrender.
Soon enough, the snow melts. Life resumes. Roads reopen. Schedules return. But if we allow it, the pause leaves us changed and more aware, more grateful, more dependent on Him.
So when life slows unexpectedly, don’t rush to curse the delay. Ask what God might be doing in the stillness. Sometimes, the storm is the grace.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10 NKJV)
Grace and peace!
